Middle MHK Jane Poole-Wilson has said it is now time to “focus on delivering”, after deciding not to seek the post of Chief Minister, Manx Radio reported.
Many at Tynwald had expected her to enter the contest for the island’s most senior political role, but she did not put her name forward.
The House of Keys, the elected chamber of Tynwald, instead chose Douglas Central MHK Chris Thomas to succeed Alfred Cannan. Mr Thomas won the support of his fellow MHKs in the vote.
Mrs Poole-Wilson held the Justice and Home Affairs portfolio in the previous administration. She told Manx Radio she believes her strengths lie elsewhere.
Manx Radio’s report did not say what role, if any, she expects to take in the new administration.
