A dry but increasingly cloudy day with highs of 16°C, though south to southwesterly winds will strengthen to gale force this afternoon, with gusts up to 45-50mph later and a risk of waves overtopping the coast around high tide (about 2:15pm today and 2:30am Thursday). Heavy rain arrives early tomorrow with gales continuing, before clearing and easing from the west later in the day. Friday looks brighter and mostly dry at around 13°C, with high pressure then bringing a prolonged settled spell.

Rain quickly arriving early tomorrow morning, heavy at times, gradually clearing in the afternoon or evening. Strong to gale force south or southwest winds veering west or northwest and easing in the afternoon, top temperature 15°C.

Outlook

Sunny spells and mostly dry on Friday, only a small risk of isolated showers. Moderate to fresh west or northwest wind and a highest temperature of 13°C. High pressure then becoming established leading to a prolonged spell of settled weather.
