Isle of Man Stamps & Coins is to release a set of 12 Christmas stamps celebrating the island’s traditional festive customs, to mark 2026’s Year of the Manx Language.

The collection, titled Kegeesh Ommidjagh – Foolish Fortnight, was created with Manx artist Felicity Wood and Culture Vannin, according to Energy FM. It goes on sale on 20 October.

The Foolish Fortnight was the old Manx festive season, lasting from the winter solstice to Twelfth Night on 6 January. Energy FM reported that only essential work was done during the period, while the island turned to parties and gatherings.

Energy FM said each stamp depicts a different Christmas or New Year custom. 3FM said the designs feature family gatherings, storytelling, music, dancing, food and good-natured mischief.

Ms Wood said her love of Manx traditions and culture inspired the artwork, adding: “There are Manx traditions for everyone when it comes to Christmas!”

The issue also marks the 90th anniversary of Sight Matters Isle of Man and the 150th anniversary of the Mothers’ Union. Sight Matters chief executive Cathryn Bradley said having the charity’s work recognised on “such an iconic, everyday piece of Island heritage” was incredibly special.
