A survey vessel will be working off the island’s west coast from next week as inspections of undersea gas pipelines continue, according to 3FM.

The 68-metre N-Sea Aquarius G will carry out work on the island’s spur pipeline, which connects to the gas interconnector running between Ireland and the UK.

The next phase of the survey is due to begin on Tuesday 13 October, the station reported.

Survey work started in late September, and the inspections are being carried out using remote-controlled submersibles, according to 3FM.

3FM did not say who had commissioned the survey or how long the latest phase is expected to last. It also did not say whether any restrictions will apply to other vessels in the area while the work is under way.
