Island woman runs Croatia marathon for endometriosis charity

Bethany Colgan, who lived with the condition for eight years before diagnosis, has already passed her £1,000 target for Endometriosis UK.

A woman from the island is running a marathon in Croatia today (11 October) to raise money for Endometriosis UK.

Bethany Colgan had endometriosis for eight years before she was diagnosed, Manx Radio reported. She has described the challenge as deeply personal.

In a post on her JustGiving page, as reported by Manx Radio, Ms Colgan says she was misdiagnosed repeatedly over that period and was prescribed as many as 17 courses of antibiotics a year. She writes that she often felt dismissed and was not believed.

By October 2024, according to her account, the pain meant she was either confined to her home or in hospital.

She had surgery last year to remove the endometriosis, which she says has changed her life.

Ms Colgan’s original goal was £1,000. Manx Radio reported that she has already gone past it. The charity provides information and support for people affected by the condition.

Donations can be made through her JustGiving fundraising page.
