Bacchas A stay top, Vagabonds Ladies rout Winnington Park and Castletown regain lead

The Cooish: a weekend of tight finishes and one-sided scorelines across the island's hockey pitches, rugby fields and football grounds.

Pull up a chair. If you spent the weekend somewhere other than a touchline, here is what you missed, with results from Manx Radio’s sport desk.

Hockey first. Bacchas A are still top of the Mixed Premiership after a close win over one of the sides chasing them, according to Manx Radio. The margin was slim, but it keeps them in first place.

Further down the divisions, Harlequins C moved to the top of Mixed Division 3 with a heavy win over their opponents, the broadcaster reported. They now have the view from the summit, and everyone below them has a target.

In rugby, Vagabonds Ladies ran up a big win against Winnington Park, Manx Radio said. The club’s men’s side, the ‘Vagas’, also came away with a victory.

Ramsey had something to celebrate too, picking up a win in the Manx Shield, according to the broadcaster.

In football’s Premier League, the reigning champions left it late. Manx Radio reports that they earned a draw in the closing stages against the side currently top of the table.

In Division 2, Castletown have moved back into first place, Manx Radio said. The word “back” tells its own story about how often the lead has changed hands this season.

That is the weekend in brief. By this time next week, the tables may look different again.
