Vix Crane, 35, was told she may not live to Christmas after a rare ovarian cancer returned, and has turned down further surgery and chemotherapy.

A Castletown woman told she may not survive until Christmas has said she is determined to keep looking forward, according to Isle of Man Today.

Vix Crane, 35, went to Accident and Emergency in August 2025. After a CT scan, she was taken into emergency surgery to remove a 15cm tumour that had burst. A biopsy later found it was a granulosa cell tumour, a rare form of ovarian cancer.

She told the paper her scans were clear until December 2025, but that by February 2026 the cancer had returned and was growing quickly. She said doctors offered major surgery or chemotherapy, and that she was told neither would cure her, though either might give her more time.

Ms Crane, who was also made redundant during this period, said she first agreed to a second operation. She cancelled it a few days later because she felt drained and low, and she also declined chemotherapy. She told Isle of Man Today she is now trying alternative approaches, including changes to her diet and supplements.

She said there had been moments of fear, but she now feels positive. “All I know is that this isn’t the end,” she said. “I’m not dying; I’m transforming.”

A friend has set up an online fundraising page to support her.
