Douglas Council, the local authority for the island’s capital, says it has reduced its carbon footprint by almost a quarter over the past seven years.
The figure comes from a report presented to members of the council’s executive committee by its Director of Environment and Regeneration, 3FM reported.
According to the report, the authority’s footprint has fallen by around 24 per cent since it signed up to the government’s Net Zero pledge in 2019.
The report set out the progress the council has made since making that commitment.
3FM did not report which areas of the council’s work accounted for the reduction.
The full council will meet at Douglas City Hall at 14:30 on Wednesday 14 October.
