Onchan Commissioners vote against extra funding for Eastern Civic Amenity Site

Members turned down a request for an additional £300 a month towards running costs, but may yet pay if other local authorities agree to increase their contributions.

Onchan Commissioners have voted against giving extra money to the Eastern Civic Amenity Site, according to 3FM.

The broadcaster reported that the board heard at its most recent meeting that the site was seeking an additional £300 a month to help meet its running costs. That would come to £3,600 over a full year. Members turned the request down.

The decision may not be final. 3FM said the commissioners could still pay the extra sum if other local authorities vote to raise their own payments towards the site.

3FM did not report when the other authorities are due to consider the matter.

Onchan Commissioners are the elected local authority for the village. Civic amenity sites are where residents can take household waste and recycling that is not collected from the kerbside.
